This past spring marked the first ever performance camp at the Linsly School in Wheeling, WV. These girls flat out exceeded all expectations for desire and willingness to train hard.

I can’t say enough about Coach Erica Hall.. someone who was willing to go outside her comfort zone, seek my help, and provide opportunities for her athletes. After taking over the head coaching responsibilities for soccer this year, Coach Hall knew she had to create change. And did she ever. Here’s what she had to say:

“I had 12 athletes participate in the FOCUS mini camp last spring.  After the camp, many more athletes became interested in learning what the FOCUS system was all about.  I had an average of 16 kids show up 3 days a week all summer long.  When pre-season began for soccer there was a noticeable difference between the girls who trained throughout the spring and summer compared to those who did things on their own.  Several parents have commented on what a difference they have seen in their daughters since they started training.  This has helped other parents get on board with what we are trying to accomplish in our program.”

“I have also incorporated what I have learned at FOCUS into my 5th grade PE classes.  Teaching and practicing technique has made all of my kids look and feel so much more athletic.  There were several  kids in my class who were very shy about running and trying to perform athletic movements.  Now, they are the first ones to volunteer to show off their perfect running form or show the rest of the class how well they can bear crawl!  I can’t begin to tell you how much these exercises have boosted their confidence!”

What Erica fails to include is that she was voted the OVAC Coach of The Year, had the conference MVP, plus several other players who were selected All State and All Conference. A truly humble coach that I look forward to working with paving the way for athletes in the Wheeling area.
